This Week In Doctor Who Unlicensed
April 5, 2010
by Benjamin F. Elliott
Not all of the Doctor Who universe is produced by the BBC. The K-9 TV series is created by Bob Baker (created the K-9 character for Doctor Who in 1977) and continues the adventures of the original K-9 dog, now living on Earth in the mid-21st Century. Meanwhile, podcasts are bigger than ever, as fandom looks at Doctor Who from all angles. News, reviews, comedy, drama, pathos - Doctor Who podcasts go everywhere.

This section of TWIDW will improve as 1) I get the revamped podcast section completed and 2) we figure out which Disney channels are airing which K-9 episodes.
K-9 TV Series:
AUSTRALIA:
Ten http://ten.com.au http://au.tv.yahoo.com/tv-guide
Saturday 9:30AM 2. Regeneration: Liberation
UK and IRELAND:
Disney XD UK http://www.radiotimes.com http://uk-tv-guide.com
All times 1 hour later on Disney XD +1.
Saturday 4PM BST 5. "Sirens Of Cerces"
Sunday 4PM BST 6. Fear Itself
17 April 4PM BST 7. The Fall of the House of Gryffen
18 April 4PM BST 8. Jaws of Orthrus
24 April 4PM BST 9. Dream-Eaters
25 April 4PM BST 10. CurseOfAnubis
K-9 is currently believed to be airing on the following Disney XD channels, but I do not have access to schedules for these networks at this time:

Disney XD Scandinavia
Disney XD Poland
Disney Channel CEE (Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary)

K-9 will also air on Disney XD USA, but it has not premiered on that channel yet. K-9 may be appearing on other Disney channels in various regions of the world as well.
Podcasts:
As the TWIDW renovations continue, I am making time to rebuild the podcast section. Here is a start. A few of the big Doctor Who podcasts of the moment. Next week I'll have more here, and more and more, till the section is back up to my standard.

Many of the Doctor Who podcasts are accessible from the Doctor Who Podcasters Alliance http://www.doctorwhopodcastalliance.org . They can also typically be found via iTunes and other podcast clients.
Doctor Who: Podshock http://www.gallifreyanembassy.org/vortex
Live shows http://www.talkshoe.com ID 22358
Live shows currently Sundays 5PM EDT/2PM PDT/10PM BST
An offshoot of the Long Island fan club "Gallifreyan Embassy", Podshock has brought fans together since the summer of 2005. Still run by original cast members Louis "Arttrap" Trapani, Ken "HairHut Alumnus" Deep, and James "Scientist" Naughton. There are regular studio shows, shows focused on listener feedback, shows recorded at sci-fi conventions, shows exclusively for supporting subscribers (on a special feed), and live episodes recorded the day after new episodes air in the UK (on a special feed at first, hopefully available on the main feed later).
This week's new episodes:
-Podshock 189 - I-Coniclastic. Recorded live from the I-Con 29 Convention, Ken Deep runs the show. But the real drama is behind the scenes, as technical problems threaten to keep some guests and James off the show.
-Podshock Live - The Eleventh Hour. A show devoted to audience reaction to the first episode of the 2010 Doctor Who series.
Coming soon:
Sunday 11 April - Live show for The Beast Below.
Radio Free Skaro http://www.radiofreeskaro.com
Canadians Warren Frey, Steven Schapansky, and Chris Burgess host this weekly Doctor Who podcast. News, commentary, and light banter between the gang. Sometimes comedy may ensue.
This week's new episode:
192. "Operation Golden Age". Guest Neil Perryman (of Tachyon TV) pops in for this episode.
Next week:
193. "Wee Timorous Beasties". The RFS team opt to discuss The Beast Below, the new Doctor Who episode, rather than the 1990s cartoon Beast Wars. Hopefully.
Cultdom Collective http://www.cultdom.com
http://www.talkshoe.com ID 54821
Live episodes usually record Sundays 2PM EDT/11AM PDT/7PM PDT
Ian Bisset and Dave AC Cooper host a live podcast show for the public. Doctor Who news, then the subject of the week. Shows can reach epic length, though right now there is an effort to limit the length to leave people enough energy for the Podshock Live shows. Frequently additional shows are recorded with some of the cast via Skype (studio shows). Benjamin Elliott (This Week In Doctor Who) is usually on the live show.
This week's new episode:
36. "The Collective go Dr Who Crazy". Excited reactions one day after The Eleventh Hour.
The DWO Whocast http://www.dwowhocast.com
One of the biggest and longest lasting podcasts, DWO Whocast periodically regenerates itself and replaces part or all of the team. A regeneration cycle is underway now, and a new team (who were not named at press time) will take over responsibilities.
Most recent episode:
176. Current team Trevor, James, and Tom cover news and big events in late March.
Coming soon:
177. The new team are expected to be announced in this episode, as Trevor (longest lasting Whocast host) leaves, along with the others.
Two Minute Time Lord http://twominutetimelord.com
William Suddereth (Chip) does several short podcasts a week, bite size Who, as we are all in a hurry.
Thanks for reading. Until next week, take care.
